大阪市内を中心に落書きが繰り返されていた事件で、大阪府警は２８日、住居不定、無職吉田和浩容疑者（２４）を住居侵入と建造物損壊などの疑いで逮捕したと発表した。吉田容疑者は「サンタと名乗ってあちこちで落書きをした」と容疑を認めているという。大阪・ミナミのアメリカ村を中心に、「ＳＡＮＴＡ」と署名がある落書きが１００件以上確認されており、府警は余罪なども調べる方針。
調べでは、吉田容疑者は、別の落書き容疑で逮捕された同市生野区の無職吉田泰貴被告（２１）＝建造物損壊罪などで公判中＝と共謀し、８月６日午前４時ごろ、同市天王寺区生玉寺町のタクシー会社の駐車場に侵入。同社事務所の壁にスプレー式の塗料で縦１．３メートル、横４．５メートルにわたって花やアルファベットを落書きした疑い。同月９日にも同市住吉区長居東４丁目のマンションに侵入して、壁に縦８０センチ、横７０センチの大きさで落書きした疑い。いずれの落書きにも「ＳＡＮＴＡ」と大きく書いていたという。
